z...girls?

I keep coming across huge links between various ladies fashion blogs and skating. Or the coincidence of creative people and skating. I've recently realised you don't have to look like Tony Alva to be a skater, with the discovery of girls such as Jen from Gnarlitude and model Erin Wasson. And even more surprisingly Australian model Nicole Trunfio. They're all over that shit.

Anyway, the other week I stumbled across a fellow Adelaidean's blog, Trip On This, an insight into his daily life/hangouts/skate sessions/etc etc. I don't know him but I know some of his friends and maybe thats why I like it. And the fact that although I live in the same city I've never seen him, let alone am familiar with some of the places he photographs. How embarrassing for me. Head-hangin'.

To your left you can see a link to yet another skating blog, this time by a team of 8 guys who call themselves Toy Machine. These guys don't seem to have jobs. They just travel a lot, skate a lot, get fucked up a lot, and take a lot of photos of it all. Love it.

Oh and;

Niiiiiiiiiiiiice.

EDIT: Nearly forgot Hedi Slimane. Used to design for Dior Homme until he quit last year (Woe!) and is buds with Gus Van Sant. Now, you can see his photography in his online diary. Youth culture at its best.

i love livin' in the city

If you knew me at all you'd know I have a 'thing' for antlers, taxidermy and religious iconography. This is why I got painfully excited and asked my ma to take photos of me in this shop, Tarlo & Graham, on Chapel Street in Melbourne.
It is also why I have been loving all over Todd Selby's choice of interiors, he always seems to find people who are into the same kind of decorating scheme I am. Dead animals and the like. Strange findings. Flora. Et cetera. Check it:

Makes me think of Alexander McQueen's latest collection - a circus of robotic girls wearing futuristically styled floral/organic/natural prints, surrounded by taxidermic animals. Bizarre. Brilliant.

new day new hoof

I just purchased a pair of Sachi 'Arq' wedges. I'm in shock. They're beautiful and awesome and fun but I'M ALREADY 5'8" I DONT NEED ANOTHER 14CM ON TOP OF THAT!
I nearly hit the tops of door frames.
I can touch my ceiling fan.
Sitting down is like jumping out of a plane.
My cat is scared of me.
I don't regret it one bit.

bag lady

Weeks ago I came across this video on Style.com of Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez (Proenza Schouler's amazing design team as of 2002), giving the public a sneak peek at their new PS1 satchel bags. These gorgeous creations have inspired much hubbub amongst the fashion community, with talk of them being a new It Bag, especially with the fact that the boys are currently only giving them to friends of theirs...
The suede candy pink and peach colours made me lose my shit! The whole S/S 09 collection was amazing, with its Alice Dellal inspired hair and colour combinations of black, red, mint green and white. But I'm getting sidetracked here, this post is about bags. Moving on!

Reading my latest issue of RUSSH magazine, I noticed the PS1 mentioned on a page dedicated to satchels. Bliss. Especially that grey suede one by Jerome Dreyfuss. However, I was also reminded of the New Zealand handbag/jewelry brand Deadly Ponies that featured in an article in an earlier RUSSH. This time they were included twice, the little linked satchels in the top right hand corner making me regret spending my Christmas money on anything other than a bag of theirs.
If you can't afford to even consider buying a PS1 (whispers of $1995!?!) I'm sure you can be satisfied with a Deadly Ponies number. Don't even get me started on their jewelry.

Welcome to Prom Theme. This blog is the love child of myself and my friend Ben, two post-teens living in Adelaide, South Australia. I've been itching to post something ever since we set this lady up weeks ago, so here I am.

Ben is currently preoccupied in Sydney right now so its up to me. We bonded over our love of individual style, Chinese duck takeaway, op-shopping and the fact we used to really not like eachother at all. I thought he was cocky, loud and a terrible drunk. He's still all of those things but the difference is, now I love the fuck out of him. I hope he cries when he reads this. My aim in life. Awesome!

Now, here's some photos of us. Self indulgent, but who said we weren't....?
