oh, lisa

I start a new second job at Lisa Ho next week. Although I liked the recent summer collection (safari inspired with lots of leopard and nude) the recently-shown Autumn/Winter collection BLEW MY MIND. Definitely the 'edgiest' collection she's ever done. Love the sheer layering and the feathers. And EVERYTHING.
Apparently Lisa based it on a fictional idea of a woman who is an art dealer during the day and....a vampire at night. Yep.

Finally got the second issue of LOVE magazine. The Sasha Grey interview is really good. Thats all I'm up to so far and I think it says a lot about yours truly.

PROM THEME also has a tumblr.

Not fashion related. Home away from home.

viva vena cava

I came across a 'Wardrobe Chic' segment on the elle.com website a few weeks ago featuring Vena Cava's Lisa Mayock. I've got the girls' blog on my RSS feed and had been following it with great interest, as it showed a more personal, everyday side of designers you don't usually get to see. I recommend.

Moving on though, the Wardrobe Chic thing. Magnificent. Mayock has an amazing sense of style and already embraces things I have been wanting to throw on myself, such as mesh sport singlets and cycling caps. Now I know I can wear both things and not look ridic. THANKS LISA!
Her home decor is worth a mention as well. My new apartment has NO room for my clothes (that used to burst out of a walk-in) so she's given me some storage ideas. Check out her slabs of jewelery. I'm in love. Mmmmm.

So. Here are some of my favourite shots.

twist

I always loved the Lanvin S/S 09 blue leopard prints.

the new guard

In the past couple of months I have been lucky enough to do makeup for a store called The New Guard, a little gem of a shop here in Adelaide that has been gaining attention in fashion blogs worldwide. Anna Sergiou and Erin Skipter are the masterminds behind the boutique and blow me away with the thought and careful consideration they put into the items they stock. The palette is primarily black (no complaints here) and feature designers such as Arnsdorf, Acne, Ellery, Dion Lee, Ksubi and Fifth Avenue Shoe Repair, and more recently shoemaker Phong Chi Lai and Matina Amanita.

The best thing about The New Guard is that they stock designers that are hard to find anywhere, not just in Adelaide, and bring them all together in one place without filler and without bullshit. They've got a quiet pride in their business, and for good reason. If you don't live in this fine city of Adelaide you can head to their website and shop online.
